Girls of Yellow Diamonds
Each season, ASC presents a series of intimate Lieder Lounge performances, highlighting some of the most exciting artistic champions of art song. These recitals often focus on a theme, set of composers, or ideas the artists want to explore on an intimate recital stage.
Girls of Yellow Diamonds is a musical journey through the lives of Asian-American women—past, present, and future. This intimate recital highlights underrepresented works by Asian-American women composers, offering poignant narratives of identity, joy, and resilience.
Returning to the Art Song Chicago stage are soprano Helen Zhibing Huang, praised for her radiant tone and emotional depth, and pianist Yasuko Oura, known for her sensitivity and expressive power. They are joined by the dynamic mezzo-soprano Alice Chung, whose rich, commanding voice and compelling stage presence have captivated audiences across major opera houses and recital halls.
