composers

Composer and vocalist Meg Huskin creates music of characteristic flair that embraces theatricality, genre-blending, and recontextualization. Meg’s work connects music and the body, creating cathartic sonifications of internal experience. In 2023, Meg’s monodrama My Dearest Jane, premiered to a sold-out Baltimore theater. The eclectic monodrama follows a young artist imagining herself into the lives of her favorite Jane Austen heroines, exploring her own multifacetedness through art-making. Meg’s chamber opera Rabbit Season is a story about sisterhood and grief. Her chamber and vocal compositions have been performed across the United States, and she is featured on the album, beautiful small things, released by Lynx Project.

Recent premieres include “Don’t Play My Game,” commissioned by Project Poetic Justice, in which Meg entered a Washington DC prison facility and collaborated with incarcerated individuals on the creation of new art song. She is a co-founder of TellTale Opera Theatre, a new nonprofit dedicated to the development and production of opera-theatre in Baltimore. She graduated with a Master’s degree in Composition from the Peabody Institute, and her Bachelor's is from the University of Wisconsin - Madison.
